Song Portfolios
Cy's works were incorporated into song portfolios
of compositions and arrangements by multiple pianists. For example,
in the "" portfolio (undated), comprised
of works originally published by Famous Music Corporation, Cy's music
is republished with that of Jack Fina, Henry Mancini, Steve Allen,
José Mellis, and Frankie Carle. Of Cy's compositions and arrangements
published by Famous, included are "Heart and Soul" (Hoagy
Carmichael); "I'm Yours" (Johnny Green); "Isn't It Romantic" (Richard
Rodgers); "It Could Happen To You" (James van Heusen); "Louise" (Richard
Whiting); "Lover" (Richard Rodgers); "Mrs. Malaprop" (Cy's
own composition); "Moon River" (Henry Mancini); "My
Geisha" (Franz Waxman); "Penthouse Serenade (When We're Alone)" (Will
Jason and Van Burton); and "That Old Black Magic" (Harold
Arlen).
In Harms, Inc.'s "All
Time Hits For Piano",
a 1957 portfolio devoted exclusively to Cy's music, included are "Begin
The Beguine" (Cole Porter); "The Birth Of The Blues" (Ray
Henderson, B. G. DeSylva, and Lew Brown); "Blues In
The Night (My Mama Done Tol' Me) (Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer); "The
Blue Room" (Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart); "Body and Soul" (Johnny
Green, Edward Heyman, Robert Sour, and Frank Eyton); "Dancing
In The Dark" (Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz); "Limehouse
Blues" (Philip Braham and Douglas Furber); and "Tea For Two" (Vincent
Youmans and Irving Caesar).
In Warner Brother's 1983 publication, "A Tribute To George Gershwin: Piano Solo Arrangements" (Compiled By Dan Coates), Cy Walter's arrangement of "Bidin' My Time" is incorporated. Cy's arrangement is placed alongside seventeen other Gershwin compositions, some of which were composed/lyricized by the Gershwins themselves.
And in Warner
Bros.' 1986 publication, "Great
Standards By The Great Stylists",
Cy's work is accompanied by that of Eddy Duchin, George Gershwin, Josef
Myrow, and Sigmund Romberg. Of the eleven pieces included in this portfolio,
five of the arrangements are Cy's: "Begin The Beguine"; "The
Blue Room"; "Body and Soul"; "Limehouse Blues";
and "Tea For Two".
